Many cars and trucks have from air dams or spoilers that barely clear the pavement.  Accidentally hitting a speed bump or curb will often tear off the plastic tabs holding the spoiler to the sheet metal valance. (left)  This leaves the spoiler hanging down even closer to the pavement, risking further damage, not to mention negating any air flow management that the spoiler was designed to create!
